Rubrik 70 »GEO« sends student on research trip Mauro Alivernini, a doctoral candidate in the Group of General and Historical Geology, has travelled to Ghana in West Africa to test a new environmental monitoring method. The 31-year-old Italian is investigating whether ostracods and foraminifera —tiny aquatic creatures—can be used as bioindi- cators for the ecological state of coastal waters. The trip was made possible by a grant from the educational magazine »GEO«. This means that the results of Alivernini’s research will be found there as well as in specialist journals.
